The modernization of Abraham Lincoln School 22 represented a thorough makeover that blends in well with the recent capital improvements transforming that particular neighborhood. Immediately after mobilization, the modular classrooms were removed and demolition and abatement occurred within the building interior. This cleared the way for new interior finishes, doors, masonry and the expansion of the existing cafeteria and kitchen wing. Mechanical, electrical, plumbing and technology upgrades as well as a new roof and site improvements were also part of the renovation improvements. The signature design feature includes a one-story wing addition that juts toward the corner of Upper Falls Boulevard and Hudson Avenue and features a panoramic, natural light-infused art room.
The diversity representation amongst the Project Team exceeded compliance goals, while completing on time and on budget. Those firms included MBE’s: Savin Engineers, P.C. (Program Manager), Moody Nolan (Architect), Steve General Contractor (G.C.) and Ravi Engineering & Land Surveying (Environmental Inspector) and WBE Architectura (Architectural Sub-Consultant), in addition to SBEs and DBEs that participated.
