Clara Barton School 2 underwent a transformative renovation that reimagined the facility to meet modern educational and community needs. A new addition featuring eight classrooms was constructed to accommodate a growing student population. This addition included self-contained Special Education classrooms, resource facilities, and flexible spaces designed to support diverse learning styles. The project also introduced a two-story, technology-rich makerspace, equipped with adaptable furniture layouts, allowing students to work collaboratively on innovative projects. These new spaces embody the district’s commitment to fostering creativity and inclusivity in education.
The school’s courtyard was redesigned into a vibrant outdoor classroom, complete with pedestrian-scaled lighting to enhance usability and safety. Infrastructure upgrades, including the replacement of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensured that the facility meets current standards for efficiency and sustainability. Stakeholders from the Mayor’s Heights Neighborhood were deeply involved in the planning, ensuring the school remains a cornerstone of the community. The completed facility not only serves as a state-of-the-art learning environment but also strengthens its role as a hub for neighborhood engagement and growth.
